Why Honey Bees Matter on a Working Ranch

Honey bees may be small, but their work touches many parts of a farm. At Pleiades Ranch Oasis, bees are part of the larger relationship between flowering plants, gardens, food production, and the landscape around us.

Pollination Connects the Ranch

As bees move from flower to flower, they transfer pollen that helps many plants reproduce. Gardens, flowering herbs, fruiting plants, native flowers, and surrounding habitat can all benefit from healthy pollinator activity.

Honey Reflects Place

Honey is also a seasonal expression of the landscape. The flowers available to bees change through the year, which is one reason local honey can vary in aroma, color, and flavor from one harvest to another.

Growing for Pollinators

Plant diversity matters. Herbs, vegetables allowed to flower, native plants, and seasonal blooms can provide nectar and pollen while making the ranch more beautiful and productive.
